I shall give it a go, I really like the Otis Spann style/sound. I‘m currently working on his version of Got my Mojo working which is also fun to play - great baseline (Arthur’s).
I have generally learnt from sheet music, tuition and video, but I’m getting better at picking out the different licks now so will start working more on trying to learn songs or sections of songs by ear.
@Dean Watkins I hadn’t heard Got My Mojo until Arthurs live stream a few weeks ago . It’s very cool isn’t it 😎🎹
im trying to improve my playing by ear , it’s difficult isn’t it 😣 I’m sloooowly getting better at it 😅 I find copying what I see easiest. I’m currenfly working on a song Arthur played at the beginning of his first live stream , I absolutely love it ❤️ I hope to be able to record it in a few weeks 🤞🏿
Hi Val, thanks. Yes, it's a great piece to learn and play. BTW, I'm loving your video's on here and on Youtube. Really great to see and very helpful! You're version of mega-shredder has made me want to learn that next, although also want to get a version of Rockin' pneumonia down as well. So many to learn!!
Thanks again for posting Dean! Man you are sounding great! The phrasing you chose for the very last bit of the ending (with the descending lick into the Ab 13 chord) totally works fine. It's a little different than what I played. I finish up that lick so that it ends up on beat 1, and the Ab chord enters on beat 2.
Again, totally fine the way you played it, but if you were interested in getting it "exactly" like what I did, then don't play that final G with your RH thumb. Stop on the B and D with the RH when the left hand hits D at the same time.
That extra note is literally the only difference. Try it both ways and see which one you like best.
Hi Arthur, thanks a lot for the feedback, really appreciated. I’ll go back to the ending and try and get it the same as yours. I also messed up slightly at the end because I couldn’t find my sustain pedal! Thanks again for the Youtube content you‘re putting out and I look forward to the next tutorial.
I’ve also been going back over the songs you taught me - Tipitina, Boogie Woogie Stomp, Cow Cow Blues, and Got my Mojo Working, and having a lot of fun trying to get these in shape.
Thank you Dean for posting this! Give me a few more days and I'll listen to it and respond. (just a little busy with school this week) Stay tuned, thanks again.
Hi Dean 😁👋🏿 Thanks for the lovely feedback, that’s good to read 😅😁
I know what you mean , you should see my “to do“ playlist in Spotify 😁😁 I need LOTS more hours in a day 🤣
The shredder is very satisfying to play 😎 you should definitely give that a go too 👍🏿
Do you learn your songs by ear?
Hi Dean 👋🏿 I love this , well done 👏👏👏😁😁 it’s such a fun song to play isn’t it 😊😊🎹❤️🎹 it’s on my “try to maintain” list 😊

Again, great job!
