Hi all, I live in Perth, Western Australia and have returned to the piano after a break of 30 years (kidds and career got in the way !!). I am thoroughly enjoying working through the on-line tutorials and have purchased the " Boogie book".
I have a question regarding integrating two of the licks into 12 bar blues format (Lick 1, tracks; 34 and 35). I have learnt these tracks (walking base is still challenging !), but can't figure how to do the chord change for 12 bar blues. Each of the other tracks in the book have the pick up note for the chord change as the last note of the measure, making the change sound "right", but the tacks noted just end, with-out a pick up note. I would really appreciate some help with this, as I like tack 35 in particular and want to be able to use it in full 12 bar blues chord changes and combined with other variations / licks.
Regards,
Dave M
some times it easyer to drop notes than too add, it gives you a space and timming senses.
I find/found on change overs or chord changes just to hit the 4 down beat on the left, but if you experiment you can even drop or strike on the 3 rd or experiment and change the structure and infill with notes that help you. I am with you I am not a pianoist or keyboardist but have come back to music from school. I am know 61 years old. I have tried learning a few set pieces.
let it be original bass pattern took me for ever. gave up started again.
feel robbie williams. and Fur Elise the easy bit he he.
now a bit of boogie but I am very inconsistant.
I going to be laid up for three months as having Mitral valve surgery, but I will be able to twinkle my Kawai ES100 88keys.
I am on first lick stuff but have had a go at bass patterns before was trying to follow Brendan Kavanagh, Dr K but finding his stuff too irractic and not structure enough.
anyway just adding my two pence worth. If it tripping you up just miss it out and when practicing set hicks or trips just focus on that bit, till it gells. Patient is a vurtue I have never cultivated but seem it is essential to master anything. pratice, pratice oh and practice.
till I get board then it back to amazon prime video...life saver
